Uche holds a first degree in Electrical Engineering and a Masters in Control Systems from Dundee College of Technology, Scotland and University of Aston, Birmingham respectively. Upon graduation, he started out as a Systems Engineer for the London Transport where he was part of the team that designed and commissioned the supervisory and public address systems on the Victoria Line, London.
He moved on to join Camco (Now part of the Schlumberger group) in 1971 where he worked for 12 years. At Camco he started out as a Sales Engineer for Production and Completion equipment. In 1973 he was transferred to Nigeria as a Senior Sales Engineer for Production and Completion equipment and Gas Lift Design and Optimization. He was later promoted to District Manager overseeing the district’s Wireline Operations, Production and Completion Equipment sales and Gas Lift Design and Optimization. In 1983 he left Camco to set up Emval Nigeria Limited and over the last 40 years has presided over its growth as its Chief Executive Officer and now its Chairman.
Uche also serves as the Chairman of Emval Holdings Limited, which is a holding company for a group of companies started by him and his wife. Uche is married to Joan Obidi and their group of companies are now under second generation management by their children.
